Volcano at Mirage, Las Vegas
Since its opening in 1989, the Mirage volcano became one of most popular attractions on the Las Vegas Strip. In 1996, the volcano added new water, lighting and sound effects. Wet Design, the company responsible for The Fountains of Bellagio, is leading the design team. Additional information on the new volcano will be available later this year.
The volcano at The Mirage has been a Las Vegas signature attraction since the resort opened in 1989, mesmerizing spectators with its thunderous display. The volcano, situated on three water-covered acres, is 54 feet high and circulates 119,000 gallons of water per minute.
Set on a small lagoon, the volcano at the Mirage Hotel is an amazing display of 3,000 lights computerized to simulate flowing lava. The volcano is 50 feet high and erupts 40 feet into the air.
The volcano erupts every 15 minutes daily from 7 PM to midnight. You can see the volcano from Las Vegas Boulevard. The show is free.
Description:
The Volcano erupts nightly and must say it is impressive. The heat that comes off the 54 foot high structure is a little unnerving but the show is worth battling the crowds of people that gather in front of the Mirage. If you happen to be walking down the strip near Caesars or the Treasure Island there is no way you can miss the show. For a different view of the erupting volcano, watch it from the venetian. There are smaller crowds and you get a picture picture of the entire scene with jamming up close to a stranger.
Surrounded by fire and heaving a final spray of water into the air, the volcano situated outside the Mirage Hotel and Casino along the Las Vegas strip quietens down at least for the next hour. The volcano is set to erupt every hour in a display that attracts a waiting crowd along the sidewalk. As the volcano bursts into life it sends bolts of fire and water into the sky. The Mirage Hotel and Casino volcano is situated along the Vegas Strip, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Mirage Volcano Show
Since the hotel’s inception in 1989, The Mirage has provided great free entertainment out on the Strip with its elaborate volcano show. The manmade structure, which sits among a 3 acres of waterfalls and lakes, spews smoke and fire high into the air every 15 minutes. Cascading lava flows bright red from the mound. Although the crowds can get thick around the edge of the attraction, you can view the spectacle from across the street almost as well.
